The mission of Urban Projects: Sports Equipment Redistribution is to repurpose old sports equipment and put it in the hands of middle and elementary students in the Philadelphia School District. We hope to enhance and encourage athletic participation at a young age and provide the necessary equipment for this to happen.
Future Goals - Our main goal is to become a 501c3 Nonprofit organization by the end of 2024. We hope to continue our outreach with collections from numerous organizations and high schools with old equipment and redistribute it to new schools across the city that are in need.
We have currently collected around 750+ pieces of equipment (~$10,000 worth of equipment) that we have either donated or are going to donate to Philadelphia public schools and athletic organizations in need.
Through bake sales and donations we have been able to accumulate around $1,000 of money raised for the organization.
The team at Urban focuses on collecting equipment from collection drives, setting up collection boxes in High Schools across the city, and reaching out to people who have excess equipment that they want to donate. The team contacts schools in the Middle School Sports League in addition to Elementary/Middle schools throughout the Philadelphia School District, to donate the equipment
